Happiness is a warm sandwich in the back of a Toyota Corolla On the hard shoulder Confidence is a thing you’ll feel when you get just a little bit older That’s what they told you And we’re getting the words wrong To almost every song We don’t know where we’re going But we know what they told us must be wrong And I love you Staring at your reflection in the back of the windscreen thinking You probably don’t realise how much this feels right And this might be the best day of my life Cause it’s easy Yeah it’s easy We don’t have to think about our thoughts We don’t need to worry about getting lost Cause this is easy Honestly, you eat crisps louder than anyone I’ve ever encountered But I like it We should see if we can sneak into the bar at the back of the bowls club Like we used to And we’re getting the words wrong To almost every song You look at me in the mirror And you see the person I always was And I love you Loading up the six disc CD changer thinking This is everywhere I’ve ever wanted to be You’ll take me anywhere I’ve ever wanted to see Cause it’s easy Yeah it’s easy We don’t have to think about our thoughts We don’t need to worry about getting lost Cause this is easy It’s so easy We don’t have to think about our thoughts We don’t need to worry about getting lost Cause this is easy It’s so easy It’s so easy It’s so easy It’s so easy It’s so easy It’s so easy It’s so easy

I know it’s not the first time And I knew this would happen when I said I would come Your body’s never gonna listen Sandra just asked you a question Yeah I think so, probably, how was your weekend? I feel myself floating up to the ceiling Just squeeze a cushion and ignore that feeling Yeah I don’t think about it ‘till it’s too late to hide I don’t wanna spend my night seeing myself through their eyes Pacing through the shallow murky waters of my mind But then there’s you There’s you Have you got nothing to do Have you got nothing to do How about we get outside Just me and you I’m sitting wondering if I can disappear Without offending all these people here Why did I think this was a good idea My heart is craving proximity to others But you’re happiest underneath the covers Yeah I don’t think about it ‘till it’s too late to hide I don’t wanna spend my night seeing myself through their eyes Pacing through the shallow murky waters of my mind But then there’s you There’s you Have you got nothing to do Have you got nothing to do How about we get outside Just me and you

At first I see your dog I think his name was Benny He’s kicking up dandelion clocks As he bounds towards me I sneeze and you apologise And my eyes lock into your eyes My day is suddenly looking up I introduce myself to you and think what else can I do To keep this going Talking in the sunshine for a while Loving every minute of your time I can feel the warmth from off your smile I see there’s a glimmer in your eye But is it purple I see there’s a glimmer in your eye But is it purple I see there’s a glimmer in your eye Under the streetlight outside the baths My hair was dripping down my back Suddenly from out of nowhere There you were on the riverbank I feel a shiver down my spine Can’t blame it on the cold this time I think I know this feeling I introduce myself to you and think what else can I do To keep this going Talking in the sunshine for a while Loving every minute of your time I can feel the warmth from off your smile I see there’s a glimmer in your eye But is it purple I see there’s a glimmer in your eye But is it purple I see there’s a glimmer in your eye I see there’s a glimmer in your eye

It’s quiet in the kitchen now that things have settled down I tentatively talk, I take my time, it’s coming round The lights flash on the clock and the walls are burning My feet start to slip as the world keeps turning I avoid your eyes but I know you can see This isn’t where I want to be I’ve got something to tell you I don’t want to hurt you But keeping it in would hurt you too Something to tell you I know there’s a chance after we talk we could be through I thought I could live with it I thought this could be enough There’s no way of saying it without kicking up a fuss I left it too late, I know, I’m sorry Every single day is a world of worry I’ve been waiting around for a chance to calm down And heaven’s not gonna help me now I’ve got something to tell you I don’t want to hurt you But keeping it in would hurt you too Something to tell you I know there’s a chance after we talk we could be I’ve got something to tell you I don’t want to hurt you But keeping it in would hurt you too I’ve got something to tell you I don’t want to hurt you But keeping it in would hurt you too Something to tell you I know there’s a chance after we talk we could be through I’ve got something to tell you I don’t want to hurt you But keeping it in would hurt you too Something to tell you I know there’s a chance after we talk we could be through

Please don’t tell my friends that I told you That I loved you the other night I’m claiming I had more than a few Although we both know that’s not right Can we pretend I didn’t mean it like that Can you pretend that you believe me for now I’m not prepared for dealing with this tonight I was sure you felt it too You don’t know what you put me through Crying my eyes out for hours Thinking of you Crying my eyes out for hours Because you’re so cute Crying my eyes out I’m crying my eyes out I don’t know what to do about you Thinking of you Prank calling on the payphone with you covering our tracks Dialling 141 knowing that they can’t call us back You turned round and you kissed me Then left me to take all of the blame while you ditched me But I never felt more alive I know I shouldn't spend time with you You don’t know what you put me through Crying my eyes out for hours Thinking of you Crying my eyes out for hours Because you’re so cute Crying my eyes out I’m crying my eyes out I don’t know what to do about you Thinking of you Crying my eyes out for hours Thinking of you (I don’t know what to do about you) Crying my eyes out for hours Thinking of you (I don’t know what to do about you) Crying my eyes out for hours Thinking of you (I don’t know what to do about you) Crying my eyes out for hours Thinking of you (I don’t know what to do about you) Crying my eyes out I’m crying my eyes out (I don’t know what to do about you) Crying my eyes out I’m crying my eyes out (I don’t know what to do about you) Crying my eyes out for hours Thinking of you (I don’t know what to do about you) Crying my eyes out for hours Because you’re so cute (I don’t know what to do about you)

about

Introducing Get Wrong, the new project of Naomi Griffin of Martha and Adam Todd of The Spook School. Their debut self-titled EP will be released December 1, 2023 via Father/Daughter (US) and Alcopop! (UK). The EP was produced, recorded, and mixed by Peter Brewis and mastered by David Brewis, both of the band Field Music.

Get Wrong is a somewhat long-distance collaboration, with Naomi based in Durham, England and Adam based in Glasgow, Scotland. With a shared background in the UK indie pop/punk scene, the two friends decided to embrace their love of pop music and create songs outside their usual comfort zone of chugging guitars and squealing feedback. The resulting output draws inspiration from 80s synth-pop alongside current pop megastars, with an approach that embraces fun, cuteness, intimacy and dream-like nostalgia.

Taken from the North-East English colloquialism for getting into trouble, the band name Get Wrong serves as a mission statement to encourage child-like naivety while questioning the status quo.
